Providing access to education for a brighter future
Providing access to education for a brighter future
With a mission to build rapport between the Austin Police Department and the Hispanic community, Amigos en Azul was formed in 1982 by a handful of Hispanic officers. In 1992 Officer Joe A. Maciel established a scholarship program rewarding over $200,000.00 to graduating high school seniors wishing to pursue a higher education. We wish all applicants the best of luck in applying for our scholarship, as well as other endeavors.
Founded in 1982, Amigos en azul has been serving our communities for over 25 years. Our organization was established to address the lack of support for Hispanic officers in Law enforcement. Now it has become an organization that strives to connect with minority communities in the community we serve.
We offer a variety of programs and services to meet the needs of our community, including financial assistance through our scholarship program and shop with a cop. Our goal is to empower individuals and families while creating a bridge between the police and our communities.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission.
